Hash Brown Potato Casserole

1 pkg. (2 lbs.) frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed    

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 can condensed cream of chicken soup                     

1 pint dairy sour cream

1/4 cup milk                                                               

2 to 4 tablespoons butter

1/2 cup chopped onions, saute’d in 4 tablespoons butter. (Be sure to include all the melted butter into the mix.)                                                               

1 teaspoon salt  1/2 pepper


Mix all the above ingredients together and spread into a greased, shallow (2 quart size) baking dish.  Mix together the following ingredients and spread over the top of the potato mixture:
2 cups crushed corn flakes (or Special K cereal)    4 tablespoons melted margarine
