2 cups Make ahead cookie mix
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup solid shortening (Crisco)
In large bowl combine all ingredients and blend until smooth. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet & flatten with form in crisscross fashion. Bake at 375 for 7 to 11 minutes until edges are golden brown. Cool slightly on sheet before removing.
Peanut Blossoms: Make same as above but after forming into ball, roll in sugar, place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for 7 to 11 minutes until edges are golden brown. Remove from oven and immediately press chocolate kiss into top of each cookie, pressing down firmly so cookie cracks around edge.
